Types of Internships

WolfTech supports the computing needs of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, the largest department on campus. We welcome applications for student workers from all degree programs.

Federal WorkStudy Positions

Must qualify for Financial Aid.

All positions require a Work-Study appointment from Financial Aid. 

The position is a flexible work situation with the ideal candidate working in 1-3 hour blocks spread over the week, with some of those hours not requiring on-site attendance. Students are generally expected to work 6-9hrs a week.

Professional Experience Program

Undergraduates only.

The PEP program was created by the Office of the Provost and aims to create meaningful campus student employment opportunities with particular emphasis toward expanding research opportunities and career development for undergraduate students. Students are eligible to earn up to $2,000 in the combined fall and spring semesters.

PartTime Employment 

Limited to 1 or 2 positions each semester.

WolfTech has limited funding to support 1/2 time student programmers.

These positions are open to both Graduate and Undergraduate students who are expected to work up to 20hrs a week. 

Only Applicants with previous programming experience are considered.

Web Developer

Assist WolfTech with the support of our numerous campus web applications (digital signage, inventory systems, identity management).

Knowledge and prior inplemnetation of web technologies such as HTML, Javascript, PHP, and/or MySQL desired.

Understanding and prior use of Git and GitHub as a versioning system a plus. Experience with code editors required (Sublime Tex, Dreamweaver, various IDEs, etc.).

Media Intern

Tasks include social media engagement on behalf of ECE, news reporting of relevant events and accomplishments, various photo and video assignments, and updating of web content. The position requires the ability to organize information in a coherent manner, be able to work independently and display initiative when appropriate. 

 

Strong written command of English required. Must be able to communicate effectively in a professional journalistic style.
Knowledge of Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram social networks is desired. Training and guidance will be provided for relevant tasks, but applicants must be capable of taking instruction and applying it.

MakerSpace Assistant

The ECE MakerSpace is run by 1 FT staff and many student workers who support core maker activities such as CAD design, 3D printing, digital prototyping, and traditional power/hand tools with wood, metal and plastics. 

Seeking students who can make work without supervision, and have a strong interest in learning more about prototyping and fabrication equipment, tools, skills, etc.

Operations Assistant

Assist ECE Director of IT & Operations with a variety of non-IT tasks — primarily inventory of research equipment, collection of student seating assignment data, equipment disposal, and data entry / filing.

Basic computing skills expected.
